📸 Who is Jyoti Malhotra?

Known by her channel name “Travel With Jo”, Jyoti Malhotra built a significant social media presence, boasting over 3.7 lakh YouTube subscribers and 1.3 lakh Instagram followers. She described herself as a “nomadic Leo girl” with roots in Haryanvi and Punjabi culture.

Her travel vlogs to Pakistan—featuring titles like “Indian Girl in Pakistan”—earned her popularity across borders. However, these visits now appear to have had hidden intentions beyond tourism.

🔍 Espionage Allegations: What Authorities Claim

The Haryana Police allege that Malhotra was sharing sensitive details about India’s security infrastructure with ISI handlers. The investigation revealed she had regular contact with a Pakistani diplomat named Ehsan-ur-Rahim (alias Danish), whom she met at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi.

He allegedly became her handler and introduced her to other Pakistani operatives including Shakir and Rana Shahbaz. Her trips were facilitated by Ali Ehwan, who helped plan her itinerary inside Pakistan.

📱 Digital Trail and Alleged Confession

Authorities claim Malhotra confessed during interrogation that she used WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat to communicate with handlers using fake names like “Jatt Randhawa”. Her devices, including phones and laptops, were seized and are under forensic investigation.

Officials also suspect her of using her YouTube channel to portray Pakistan in a positive light and create a misleading narrative to influence Indian viewers.

⚖️ Legal Action Under Official Secrets Act

Jyoti Malhotra has been booked under Sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These charges relate to the unauthorized communication of sensitive national security information.

A local court has remanded her to five days of police custody for further investigation.

🛑 Diplomatic Fallout

As a result of the incident, the Indian government declared Ehsan-ur-Rahim persona non grata and expelled him from the country for “activities incompatible with his diplomatic status.”

🗣️ Government Reactions

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated:

“If such elements are caught, strict action will be taken. Our intelligence agencies are doing their job.”

The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed the expulsion of the Pakistani official but offered no further comment.
